Jackson Barracks Facility Entrance Gate Houses and Perimeter Fencing

New Orleans, Louisiana

Yeates Mancil Architects provided full A/E Services for this project which consisted of the construction of new perimeter brick masonry walls around the historic Jackson Barracks site, as well as the construction of four (4) new Gate House structures. The Gate Houses form part of the “Controlled Perimeter” at Jackson Barracks and were placed at strategic access points to the Jackson Barracks site. These building were designed to be sympathetic with the historic architectural vocabulary at Jackson barracks and also with the Jackson Barracks Campus Design Guidelines, as prepared by Yeates Mancil Architects. The Gate House buildings were constructed of regional St. Joe brick with limestone accents and slate roofs. Portions of the existing masonry fences which were destroyed by the Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, were rebuilt to match the existing historic fencing in appearance, but with the required steel reinforcing.  t.
