Yeates Mancil Architects provided full A/E services for the St. Tammany Parish School Board for an addition and renovation to the existing Chahta-Ima Elementary School. The existing pre-kindergarten through 3rd grade school is comprised of several buildings spread out on the site. This made it difficult to regulate and monitor entry to the campus. The new addition added a centralized entry and administration core to the campus for students, parents and visitors. The new entry and administration addition includes a reception area, various administrative offices, conference room, visitor restroom and a first aid office and restroom. The existing administration areas in the existing classroom building were converted into new classrooms and staff support areas. Other additional features of the project included miscellaneous site work, the addition of a new bus drop-off canopy, as well as adding new canopies and sidewalks connecting the addition to the existing surrounding site buildings. The addition and the adjacent existing classroom building were also re-roofed.
